Spring is coming…….

We’re already into March and Spring is right around the corner.  Spring, for me, has always been a time of new beginnings, of fresh starts.  This year is no different.  It might look a little different than in years past but that’s to be expected in these current times.  It doesn’t change the fact that there will be new buds on the trees, new flowers poking up through the frost and snow that is lingering on the ground and allergy season will soon arrive, itchy eyes, sneezing and all.

this is my iris from 2020

I can’t believe that it’s been a year now since I’ve actually been in my office at work.  I haven’t seen my co-workers or supervisor in person, although we talk on the phone or text each other to keep in touch.  I haven’t had to make that hour long commute or had to worry about what to wear.  It doesn’t feel like it’s been a year but then again, it feels like it’s been longer than that.  And with no clear date for when we’ll return, things will continue to feel a little surreal.

Destiny and I are planning our container garden and looking forward to Spring and Summer.  Destiny is looking forward to summer break more than anything and I don’t blame her.  The seeds have been ordered and plants have been ordered and soon we’ll start our seedlings.  We’ll get out the pots we’ll use, figure out where we want to display them (being in pots we’ll be able to move them around as well).  We might paint some to make them fancier.  Maybe we’ll create a little fairy garden around our pots and bring a little whimsy into things.  The possibilities are endless and I’m getting so excited just thinking about all the new possibilities.  I love the promise of fresh herbs and veggies for us to eat; beautiful flowers for us to enjoy.  But the most important thing of all will be spending time with Destiny, teaching her about the different plants and just enjoying each other’s company.   There is something so special about doing things with our hands and with those that we love that tightens that bond and brings the family closer.  It’s being united in a common goal and working together to achieve it.  But doing it together will make this all so much more special.

So, here’s to Spring 2021.  May it bring joy to our household and new beginnings.  Let the seeds of hope grow as we continue on through these trying times.  There is a light at the end of this tunnel and no, it’s not a train………this time.  Happy Spring!
